2015/16 was a season that not many of us could’ve expected back in last August.
Crashing out of the Europa League to a footballing parody account, many thought West Ham had bitten off more than they could chew by appointing the enigmatic Slaven Bilic as their new manager.
Boy, were they wrong.
Bilic led West Ham to their best league finish in over a decade, their first ever Premier League season with a positive goal-difference and a Europa League berth for this coming season.
(Not to mention away wins at the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City)
The 2016/17 season will be one of much greater expectation. People are expecting West Ham to push again for the European places, have a better go at the Europa League and who knows, maybe a Wembley appearance in May.
You’d need around 187 pairs of hands to count the number of different players West Ham have been linked with this summer, but what about the young talent already on our books?
Here are five players who could be set for a breakthrough season.
