# West Ham enter race for Janssen

West Ham have joined Tottenham, Manchester United and Wolfsburg in the race to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen this summer.

According to Dutch source [Voetbal Primeur](https://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuws/666892/janssen-heeft-nieuwe-transferoptie-in-londen-n-is-welkom-bij-mourinho.html), both the Hammers and Manchester United have made their interest known in the striker this week.

Tottenham and Wolfsburg both made their interest known last week and made offers for the forward, but West Ham are prepared to spend ‘big money’ on Janssen who scored on his Netherlands debut earlier this season against England.

The 22-year-old netted 27 goals in 34 Eredivisie appearances this past season, but Alkmaar has reportedly place a €15m price-tag on him this summer in order to thwart interest from fellow Dutch sides Ajax and PSV.

However, that would not deter some of the biggest clubs in Europe including the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester United who can all comfortably afford to pay the asking price.

Jose Mourinho instructed the Manchester United hierarchy to make an enquiry into the availability of Janssen this summer as he sees the Dutchman to be a good squad player for his side next season but are yet to make an offer.

Janssen is under-contract with Alkmaar until 2019 and visited White Hart Lane recently and came away impressed but Spurs are yet to agree a fee for the player.

With Diafra Sakho becoming increasingly likely to leave the club this summer, [amid reports West Brom have offered Saido Berahino in a straight swap](https://t.co/5h7C2VUk65), Janssen could well replace the Senegalese international in the West Ham squad.
