# West Ham make enquiry to sign Barcelona striker Sandro

West Ham have made an enquiry to Barcelona regarding the possibility of signing striker Sandro Ramirez this summer.

According to Spanish source [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/west-ham-quiere-sandro-ramirez-5200786), the Hammers, who are keen on adding to their attacking options before the start of the season, are interested in the young forward.

The 20-year-old striker was fast-tracked into the Barcelona first team in the 2014/15 season where, after a couple impressive seasons for their B team in the Segunda Division, he made 12 first-team appearances for Barcelona, scoring four goals.

However, this past season he didn’t have the progression he had hoped for, failing to score in 10 La Liga appearances and scoring just three times in 20 appearances in all competitions.

After speaking with the club’s Sporting Director Robert Fernandez, Sandro has been granted a transfer away from the club this summer upon his request. The Spaniard is under contract until the summer of 2016 and the cub declined their option to extend that.

The Hammers have enquired into the availability of Sandro and how much he’d cost to purchase this summer, but face competition from Galatasaray who have already made an offer for the forward.

The attacker plays primarily as a centre-forward, but is more than capable of operating on either winger much like he did on several occasions for Barcelona.
