# Allardyce confident of completing Sakho deal

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is reportedly confident of completing a deal to sign West Ham striker Diafra Sakho this summer.

According to the Northern Echo, the Black Cats boss is keen to sign a striker or two this summer and wants to bring in Diafra Sakho to be an ideal partner to the ageing Jermain Defoe.

Allardyce signed Sakho for West Ham during his time in charge two years ago for a fee of around £4.5m from FC Metz and the Senegalese international enjoyed a great first season with the Hammers netting 12 goals in his debut season in English football.

However, an injury-hit sophomore year in the Premier League held Sakho to just five league goals. This in addition to falling out with manager Slaven Bilic during the season after being dropped for the home visit of Arsenal have led to reports that the club could be looking to offload Sakho.

West Ham value Sakho at £15m if reports are to be believed, while Sunderland are said to have lodged an £11m move to sign the striker this summer.

Allardyce is understood to be encouraged in talks between the two clubs and is confident that his side with get a deal done soon.
