# Chelsea and Roma chase West Ham star

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna is a transfer target for Italian side Roma and former Premier League champions Chelsea, according to a report from David Amoyal of [GianlucaDiMarzio.com](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/).

Whilst it’s clear that West Ham won’t want to sell the Italian international, that might not stop the two sides from going after him, although it would take a monumentally high bid for the Hammers to consider selling up.

The 28-year-old was arguably the best centre-back at West Ham last season as they qualified for Europe so it’s no surprise to see other clubs interested in him.

Roma are in the market for a new defender after new signing Antonio Rudiger ruptured his ACL whilst training for Euro 2016 with Germany, whilst Chelsea are still looking for a long-term successor to John Terry.

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte worked with Ogbonna at Juventus and also included him in his Italian squad for the Euros.
