# West Ham enter race for Bundesliga duo

West Ham have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit, According to Italian outlet [Tuttomercatoweb](https://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=167817).

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is a crucial player for Monchengladbach. He played in all six of the German side’s Champions league games including a trip to Manchester.

The German midfielder is out of contract in six months time meaning he would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. With Liverpool behind West Ham in the Premier League, European football is looking increasingly unlikely for the Reds. This would be a big factor for the German since he wants to progress as a player.

West Ham are also looking at signing FC Augsburg defender Dominik Kohr, [the Mirror reports](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-among-three-premier-league-7381589). But once again the Hammers have competition, this time with London rivals Tottenham. Unlike Nordtveit the centre-half has a long-term contract with the German side. Since joining he has showed great signs of a quality player and he is now being pursued by some big premier league teams.

West Ham currently have a very strong squad but if they want to improve further, they will need to bring in players from overseas with experience of other leagues.
