# West Ham linked with move for Aston Villa forward

West Ham are one of the clubs looking at making a move for Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew in the summer as the Midlands-based club look certain to be playing in the Championship next season.

According to a report from [John Percy in The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/03/09/aston-villa-facing-summer-exodus-with-jack-grealish-a-target/), Ayew will one of a number of players who leave Villa Park in the summer as the club look to rebuild and bounce straight back into the top-flight at the first time of asking.

The form of the 24-year-old has been one of the very few positives for Villa this season in what has been an otherwise disappointing campaign.

Ayew arrived at Villa from Lorient for £8million in the summer and when the Villans are relegated, they’ll look to recoup that money, although they may have to take a slight hit to get his wages off the book.

Ayew’s contract does contain a clause that will see him take a 20% pay cut when Villa go down, but he’ll still be earning £40,000-a-week, which may be seen as too much for a Championship side to pay and with Victor Moses heading back to Chelsea in the summer, there is certainly a place for the talented Ghanian in Slaven Bilic’s squad.
