# Man City and Man United want to sign West Ham star

Both Manchester City and Manchester United are looking to sign West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna in the summer, according to a report by [Matt Hughes of The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/article4703950.ece?acs_cjd=true).

The Hammers paid just £8million to bring the Italian international to the Boleyn Ground and despite the odd shaky moment during the early stages of his West Ham career, he’s been an excellent addition to Slaven Bilic’s squad.

Man United’s issues at centre-back are clear for everybody to see and they will be desperate to add some depth to their squad.

City, meanwhile, seem to have been looking for a permanent defensive partner for Vincent Kompany for years.

Martín Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala look to be a level below what City require, whilst the highly-rated Nicolás Otamendi still looks like he needs to adapt to playing in England.

The Hammers will be very reluctant to sell Ogbonna, but if they chose to let him go, they would be able to demand a large transfer fee.
