# Mark Noble sings the praises of Dimitri Payet

In the space of just a few minutes on Saturday, West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet scored a goal and set up another to get the Hammers back level at 2-2 with Norwich City and his captain Mark Noble has heaped praise on the French international.

Noble, who was the recipient of a lovely pass from Payet that allowed him to grab the equaliser, told the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/494575/Mark-Noble-Dimitri-Payet-West-Ham) that playing with a player who is as good as the Frenchman elevates the level of his teammates.

He said:

> You play better when you play with good players and he is very good. He’s set a very high standard for himself so far and there’s a lot of pressure on him now to keep it up, after the new contract and everything.

The West Ham captain also admitted that he wouldn’t always make the run that he made to get his goal as other players wouldn’t have the vision or ability to find him, but that is not the case with Payet.

> If it had been anyone else but Dimi I would probably not have made a run almost from the half way line to get on the end of it. But with Dimi you know that he is going to see your run and he laid the ball on perfectly for me. So all I had to do was concentrate on striking the ball well.

The 28-year-old, who is being [linked](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-pair-mark-noble-and-aaron-cresswell-deserve-england-call-up-insists-slaven-bilic-a3179306.html) with a call-up to the England squad, also said that the draw against Norwich highlighted character and belief that West Ham currently have in the squad.

> After the week we’ve had, with the Liverpool game and then going 2-0 down here, it just shows the heart and the belief the lads have. It would have been easy to say ‘We are sixth in the league, we don’t need to win’. But we don’t think like that. We fight all the way for 90 minutes. We knew it would be a tough game here and coming back from 2-0 down gives you great belief as a team and as a squad. I am just so proud that we have shown everyone what we have to offer as a team. We did it together and that’s been the story of our season.
