# Midfielder’s move in doubt

Earlier today, it was reported that West Ham midfielder Reece Oxford was set to join Charlton Athletic on loan, but it appears that is no longer the case.

As reported by [Darren Lewis of The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-starlet-reece-oxfords-7266093), Charlton have temporarily cancelled the deal because their manager, Jose Riga, doesn’t know who Oxford is!

Having impressed for the Hammers earlier in the season, many thought that the 17-year-old could be in line for regular action with the first team, but that has not been the case.

Slaven Bilic has preferred to use more experienced players in his midfield, and his decision to use them have paid dividends as the Hammers sit in 6th place in the Premier League table.

West Ham want Oxford to play regular first-team football on loan, and it looked all but certain that he’d join the Addicks, but Riga has put a halt to that plan.

However, according to Lewis, the two clubs are still in talks to see if Charlton will do a U-turn and take the midfielder for the rest of the season
