# West Ham linked with international midfielder

According to reports in the *[Hurriyet](https://www.hurriyet.com.tr/ingilizler-besiktasin-kalbine-goz-dikti-40029650)*, West Ham are preparing a bid for Besiktas’ Canadian international midfielder Atiba Hutchinson.

Hutchinson has played for a host of clubs, including Copenhagen and PSV, and was coached under the tutelage of current Hammers boss Slaven Bilic for two seasons, so the two are familiar with each other’s style of work.

The east London side were [previously interested](https://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/Premier-League-transfer-news-West-Ham-United-line/story-24957078-detail/story.html) in Hutchinson while managed by Sam Allardyce, but they opted to sign Pedro Obiang instead.

The Hammers have sent scouts to Turkey to watch Hutchinson during his last four games including the 3-2 win over Osmanlispor on Monday.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder has featured in all 16 of Besiktas’ games this season and has chipped in with two assists, although he is yet to find the back of the net himselfThe Canadian would only be a short-term option if Bilic did bring him in, but he would be relatively cheap in terms of a transfer fee, which could be appealing to the Hammers.
