# West Ham suffer major injury blow

West Ham have been dealt a major blow with the [news](https://www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/west-ham/west_ham_suffer_major_blow_as_striker_ruled_out_until_february_1_4330857) that striker Diafra Sakho will be out until at least mid-February with a thigh injury picked up during the 1-1 draw with West Brom on Sunday.

The striker was injured after attempting a strike on goal and immediately signalled to the bench that he was in trouble as he lay on the turf, clearly in a lot of pain.

Sakho becomes West Ham’s third major loss in just a few weeks after both Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet were injured in the Hammers’ recent clash with Everton, which leaves manager Slaven Bilic short of attacking options.

Andy Carroll and Nikica Jelavić finished the game with West Brom and both could see increased playing time over the busy festive period. However, West Ham will need to be careful with Carroll who has a history of picking up injuries.

The Hammers will travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Saturday, and it looks likely that Carroll will start up front.
