# Pedro Obiang reveals what the keys are to West Ham’s success this season

West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang says that the “good vibes” in the locker room are the key to the early success the club has had this season.

Slaven Bilic’s men currently sit in third place in the Premier League tableand have enjoyed victories against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, all away from home.

Speaking to [Marca](https://www.marca.com/en/2015/10/27/en/football/international_football/1445977990.html), the Spanish U21 international also said that despite the great start the Hammers have had, there’s still plenty of work left to be done.

> The good vibes that have been created in the dressing room. The great season we’re having has made expectations soar and we’re being compared to the big clubs, but we have to keep working.

The Hammers signed Obiang from Italian club Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee earlier this year, and the midfielder explained how he’s found English football so far.

> Ever since I was young no other matches I watched were so end to end. It drives me crazy sometimes. It’s very high-tempo. I sometimes wonder, ‘How can they train at such a high intensity and then run so many kilometres in a match?’ They live football a whole other way.

It was Bilic who brought Obiang to the club, and when asked about how his Croatian manager goes about his business, the 23-year-old described Bilic’s calm, measured approach.

> He does everything very calmly, he hardly ever shouts. His footballing ideology is being implemented bit by bit. Up until now he has been adapting to the team’s capabilities, but I think he’d like to play more attractive football. Bilic has a lot of personality and he wants us to dominate. We’re starting to see the results of that

.Obiang also spoke about what the immediate future might hold for West Ham, and also about how confident the side are at the moment.

> We may not be well-known players, but we’re eager to do battle. We’re taking it one game at a time. We’re good boxers. We hit hard. Whenever we get in front, we win.
