# Bilic gaining rave reviews from players

West Ham face Norwich City at home this weekend and [The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3248938/Slaven-Bilic-brought-new-ideas-West-Ham-squad-like-playing-insists-Winston-Reid-ahead-Norwich-clash.html) are reporting that the West Ham players are all buying into Slaven Bilic’s new ideas at Upton Park.

Winston Reid has said the effect Slaven Bilic has had on West Ham has been superb since he took over in the summer.

Bilic spent 18-months as a West Ham player back in his playing days and the Croatian was a real fans’ favourite. The fans at West Ham never really got on amazingly well with the former West Ham manager, Sam Allardyce, however, Bilic has already started to gain respect from all of the West Ham faithful.

With wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City away from home this season, fans have started to warm to Bilic and will look forward to many more great moments with their new manager, despite some poor results at home to Bournemouth and Leicester.

West Ham beat Newcastle at home and Manchester City away in their last two Premier League fixtures and that see’s them sitting 3rd in the league ahead of the clash with 11th placed Norwich City, who beat West Brom 3-0 in mid-week and drew 1-1 with Liverpool last Sunday.

Defender Winston Reid has been impressed with Bilic so far:

> A huge amount of credit, deservedly, has gone to the manager. He has been first-class ever since he started. Slaven is a very relaxed guy and he’s good to the players. He clearly hasn’t forgotten what it’s like to be a footballer himself, which is a crucial characteristic.
>
> We had a slightly unusual pre-season where we were getting used to his new ideas but also trying to qualify for the Europa League. Unfortunately we didn’t quite manage that, but afterwards we had a team meeting and we said we need to focus on the Premier League.
>
> Most importantly, the new manager came in with new ideas that are easily understood. He’s a great communicator. He likes to get hands-on in training which is good. He’s very engaging and the players like working for him.

Bilic also did extremely well in the transfer window, adding forward Dimitri Payet, who has got pundits raving already this season with his impressive performances for West Ham.

Reid spoke about Dimitri Payet’s addition to the squad and Andy Carroll’s return from injury.

“Another hot topic at the moment is Dimitri Payet,” added Reid.

“I don’t need to say much as he lets his football do the talking. He’s obviously a special player and he’s a joy to play alongside. He’s also very personable and easy to get along with.

“On Tuesday, it was great to have Andy back, it’s always hard when you’re injured but he’s done well to keep coming back from injury. He’s a great player and we’re delighted to have him back. We all know what he can bring to the team when he’s on form.

“We’ve also got Enner Valencia and Alex Song to come back too, so there’s plenty of positivity around the training ground.”
