# Flop Allardyce signing claims joining West Ham was the “worst decision I made”

[According to Brad Pinard of London 24](https://www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/west-ham/signing_for_west_ham_was_the_worst_decision_of_my_career_1_4240731), Charlton defender Alou Diarra has claimed that joining West Ham was the worst move of his career.

When he signed for the Hammers, he was a regular in the French national side. West Ham brought him in for £2million and it was seen as a good signing.

The Frenchman fell out with West Ham however, following an inconsistent start to his career that led to him not being a regular in the side. Due to this, he claimed joining West Ham was a waste of time.

West Ham fans took to this well, coming up with the chant of ‘*Alou Diarra, you’re wasting your time!*’ whilst the midfielder was warming up for West Ham when he was on the bench versus Arsenal.

Diarra is now a regular for Charlton Athletic in their back-four, a considerable step down from the French national side and speaking about his move to West Ham, he said: ‘S*igning for West Ham was the worst decision I made in my career*‘.
