# Matthew Etherington confirms Kevin Nolan has left West Ham

Former West Ham winger Matthew Etherington has confirmed that club captain Kevin Nolan will be leaving the club this summer.

Now retired, Etherington still has strong links with West Ham following his time at the club.

Tonight on twitter, Etherington confirms that Kevin Nolan will be leaving the club, and that he wishes him well on his future endeavours.

It was [reported earlier in the summer](https://readwestham.com/2015/08/04/kevin-nolan-set-to-leave/) that Nolan was set to leave the club as he lost his place in the first-team.

Despite being the captain, the additions of Pedro Obiang and Dimitri Payet, as well as the emergence of Reece Oxford as a midfield option as well have seen first-team opportunities for Nolan dry up.

The 33-year-old was being looked at by Bolton as a potential signing.

Nolan spent 10 years at Bolton, making 296 appearances for the club, but it was stated that Nolan’s £50,000-a-week wages would be a stumbling block.

There are rumours flying about that West Ham have agreed to terminate the final year of Nolan’s contract at the club, and he is now a free agent.

It’s unknown whether Bolton have taken Nolan or that he’s been released, but one thing’s for certain, Nolan won’t be at West Ham much longer.
