# West Ham Set To Sign Jimenez

West Ham are set to complete the season-long loan signing of Atletico Madrid striker Raúl Jiménez this week.

Portuguese source [Record](https://www.record.xl.pt/futebol/internacional/inglaterra/detalhe/raul-jimenez-perto-do-west-ham-965675.html) believe that the Hammers are closing in on the signing of the Mexican international forward, who has been buried even further down the Atletico Madrid ranks following the addition of Luciano Vietto from Villarreal earlier in the summer.

The 24-year-old is also wanted by Portuguese sides Benfica and Porto, but both sides appear to have lost out to the Hammers for his signature.

Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marín confirmed to Record last week that “*the choice is his* \[Jiménez’s\]” on where he plays his football next season.

During last night’s 2-2 draw with FC Astra in the Europa League, striker Enner Valencia suffered what appears to be a very bad knee injury, and the club are awaiting test results to know the extent of the damage, but are fearing the worst, making bringing in reinforcements imperative.
