# Rivals Join Race For Hernandez

West Ham will face competition in their pursuit of Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez from local rivals Tottenham, *according to Sky Italia*.

[The Hammers first opened negotiations](https://readeverything.co/readwestham/2015/07/14/hammers-in-talks-with-manchester-united-star/) with the Mexican striker a week ago, and then [placed a bid of £9million](https://readeverything.co/readwestham/2015/07/14/west-ham-close-to-agreeing-striker-fee/) for Chicharito. Slaven Bilic was then handed a boost when it was revealed that the 27-year-old [would snub a move to the MLS](https://readeverything.co/readwestham/2015/07/15/hernandez-to-snub-mls-move-for-west-ham-switch/) in order to continue his career in the Premier League.

However, the Red Devils have recently claimed [that Hernandez is not for sale](https://readeverything.co/readwestham/2015/07/17/west-ham-told-prolific-striker-target-is-not-for-sale/) and he [will be joining up with Louis van Gaal on their pre-season](https://readeverything.co/readwestham/2015/07/16/hammers-suffer-blow-in-pursuit-of-striker/) tour. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now reportedly joined the race for the international striker, as the White Hart Lane club look to decrease the goal-scoring burden off the shoulders of Harry Kane.

It is expected that we will see a new striking arrival at Upton Park before the closure of the summer transfer window.
