The report claims Everton and Leicester City are also looking at the central defender.
However, West Ham could have the edge, with the futures of Everton and Leicester’s managers under doubt.
Sam Allardyce looks set to leave Everton this summer, whilst Claude Puel is rumoured to be on his way out of Leicester after falling out with some of his squad.
Gibson has been a consistent performer at the heart of the Middlesbrough defence this season in the Championship and has caught the eye once again.
He was heavily expected to leave Middlesbrough last summer after their relegation from the Premier League.
