West Ham set to offer Declan Rice big wage rise

West Ham are set to offer Declan Rice a big wage rise as they negotiate a new contract with the defender this Summer.

The new deal will reflect Rice’s place in the first team, after breaking into the side this season. Rice has stepped up from the U23’s, who enjoyed playoff success from the PL2 last season.

According to Claret and Hugh, Rice is only on £2k a week at the minute. However, West Ham are set to offer the newly capped Irish international a bumper £20k a week deal, nearly ten times bigger than his current deal.

West Ham have an option to extend his current deal until 2021, but what to get the defender onto a long-term deal.

Rice’s new contract could also include some appearances bonuses and other clauses. This could see him earn up to £40k a week and could be higher than that once he has made 30 or 40 appearances for West Ham, where the club would again look at his contract.
