West Ham are reportedly preparing to sign Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion for just £3m in the summer, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Evans’ contract at the Hawthorns reportedly will let him move to a new club for £3m if the Baggies are relegated, which they’re looking increasingly likely to do barring a remarkable change in results.
Albion are rock bottom of the Premier League table, eight points adrift from safety, having won one of their last 26 Premier League games.
If the Baggies were to go down, then one of the major transfer sagas of the next summer transfer window will be Evans moving away from the West Midlands.
It is believed that David Moyes is a huge fan of the Northern Ireland international as he impressed him during Scot’s brief stay at Old Trafford.
Teams such as Arsenal and Manchester City were keen on him and were prepared to offer north of £30m for his services, but now it looks like he’ll go for 10% of that fee
Even if Albion did complete a great escape as in 2005, it is said that Evans’ future at the Hawthorns would still be in doubt.
Leicester City and Everton are also interested in signing him for a cut-price in the summer, whilst Arsenal and Man City, as mentioned above, had interest in him earlier this year.
