Atletico Madrid keen on surprise move for Reece Oxford
West Ham youngster Reece Oxford is reportedly being tracked by La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
According to the Telegraph, the Spanish side are keeping tabs on Oxford’s progress in Germany, as he continues to develop at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.
The young defender is held in high regard by those at West Ham and it’s understood that they remain keen to retain his services for the foreseeable future. However, clubs appear to be circling for Oxford’s signature and Atletico are the latest outfit to join the race.
It’s claimed in the report that West Ham value the England Under-20 international in the region of £12 million, with Monchengladbach having attempted to lure him from the London Stadium permanently for £8 million in January.
Rather interestingly, despite evident interest from German sides Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig, the Telegraph also state that Oxford would prefer a move to Spain if he does leave West Ham. This could give Atletico encouragement in their apparent pursuit of the prospect.
