According to Sport Witness, West Ham are now free to talk to Nicolai Muller over summer move, but they will face competition from Southampton.

The Hamburg winger was linked with a move to both clubs in the summer, as well as Wolfsburg and Schalke but they didn’t let Muller go as they felt he could sign a new deal at the club.

However, Muller suffered a knee injury in August, after trying to intimidate a helicopter when celebrating a goal, which made the Hamburg board block any attempts to renew his deal due to the injury and insufficient funds.

If West Ham were to go for Muller, David Moyes will have to be convinced that the player is fit enough to play, despite not playing since his injury.

Due to the contract situation, West Ham are free to talk to Muller over a move to the London Stadium in the summer and with Hamburg close to relegation, Muller may want to commit his future somewhere else just in case.
