Moyes doesn’t want any outgoings
David Moyes has said that he doesn’t want to let any of his players leave this month, saying interested teams will have to pay a lot of money to convince him otherwise.
It has been reported that West Ham were looking to offload summer signing Javier Hernandez in the last few days, and that Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are both wanted men, but Moyes wants to keep them all at the London Stadium.
The Hammers coach wants to keep all of his goalscorers, as he sees the club’s strength in depth as an advantage in ensuring they retain their Premier League status.
Moyes is looking for additions in the transfer window though, namely a right winger, but he has seen any and all offers rejected as of now.
Talking about his reluctance to sanction sales this month, Moyes said;
I don’t want any of them to go. We’ve got no players here who we want to leave. We want to add to our squad.
Ideally we strengthen, so my intention is not to let anyone go. We’ve got four or five strikers and the competition is tough for all of them but I’m happy that way.
If we were (to sell) it would take an awful lot of money in this window to prise any of them out.
Diafra Sakho is one who has looked destined to leave this month. The Senegalese forward has stated his intention to leave, and has found minutes tough to come by this season, with Mark Arnautovic and Michail Antonio preferred up front to him.
Palace have offered £10million for the 28-year old, but the Hammers would want £15million if they were to sanction a mid-season switch.
Talking about Sakho, Moyes said;
I know there’s been talk about it. Diafra’s injured so I couldn’ t give you any update on it at all, I’m sorry.
There’s been talks, of course there’s been talks. I’m sure everyone’s been aware of that here. But we’re more than happy to keep Diafra, I’m sure about that.
We like him, he’s been good since we’ve been here, so we’ve got no problem if he’s still here.
West Ham are currently 15th in the Premier League table, and will travel to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday to face Huddersfield Town.
