West Ham set for Shelvey deal
West Ham are set to make a move for Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey this month.
According to Football London, West Ham are closing in on an agreement to sign the midfielder during the transfer window.
The report claims that West Ham are looking to conclude a £12m deal for Shelvey as they look to bolster their midfield options.
West Ham are, however, keeping their options open and have a list of targets they can pursue if a deal for Shelvey breaks down.
Watford’s Etienne Capoue, Stoke’s Joe Allen and Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker are all thought to be of interest to West Ham.
Shelvey, formerly of Liverpool, is known for his excellent array of passing in the middle of the park.
West Ham manager David Moyes believes Shelvey will improve his squad and is insistent on a deal to sign him.
Newcastle will put up a fight to keep Shelvey, as they look to avoid bolstering a rival.
