I AM READY FOR MY BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH DEBUT – OXFORD
Teenage sensation, Reece Oxford believes he has matured a lot as a player and as an individual ever since bursting into the scene with a man of the match performance for West Ham in a victory over Arsenal on the opening day of the 2015/2016 season. The 18 year old midfielder who has been tipped for great things is currently on loan at German club, Borussia Monchengladbach but is yet to play for the Bundesliga outfit. He has come out to say that he and his soccer cleat is ready to make his debut, but admits he knows that he has to prove himself to play regularly.
The football world was shocked when Slaven Bilic named a 16 year old player to take on Arsenal away at The Emirates but Oxford showed maturity, composure that belied his tender years. He effectively marked out Mesut Ozil as The Hammers won comfortably courtesy of a Dmitri Payet masterclass. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal were interested in signing him, but Bilic took him back to the developmental squad to aid his development and in a bid not to allow him to become conceited. He spent some weeks on loan at Reading last season where he impressed yet again and was farmed out to Germany to continue his football education, while you can enjoy the best odds with best free bets.
In an exclusive interview to Sky Sports, the now 18 year old spoke on a variety of issues, chief of which is how he is adapting to the German league. He said, “I think I’m fitter than ever now. I’ve done pre-season with Gladbach, I feel good and ready, I’m just waiting for my opportunity. It’s patience, I’m young, watching the centre-backs ahead of me, and seeing what I can do to make me better.”I’m just ready now, ready to make my debut, and hopefully it’ll be good and I won’t look back from there.”I just hope to return to West Ham as a more experienced player, ready to play in the Premier League or any league.” he added.
There are high hopes for Oxford who is a central defender but can play in defensive midfield and has been compared with English legendary player, Rio Ferdinand. He is calm on the ball, and can also mix it up physically. He has all it takes to be a top player and would be looking to emulate the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard, players who graduated from the West Ham academy and went on to have fantastic careers.
