West Ham nearly held on for over an hour with ten men to record a win against Burnley but Chris Wood’s header five minutes from time was enough to earn the home side a draw.
Michail Antonio put the Hammers ahead after Ben Mee misjudged a long kick from Joe Hart but Andy Carroll’s two yellow cards in a matter of minutes saw the visitors go down to ten men.
West Ham played well and had chances to score a second but in the end, Wood was able to rescue a point for Burnley.
Here’s how we rated the Hammers in the game:
Joe Hart - 7
His long ball set up West Ham’s goal and he played pretty well throughout.
Pablo Zabaleta - 7
Another very, very good performance from the Argentinian. He gave Burnley nothing at all.
Winston Reid - 7
Defended well and won plenty of battles against Wood.
Jose Fonte - 6
Looked good at times but will be annoyed of how much space Wood got to equalise.
Aaron Cresswell - 6
The red card meant he couldn’t really get forward much but he defended pretty well. Should have closed down the cross better for the Burnley goal.
Cheikhou Kouyate - 5
Too many silly errors and fouls.
Michail Antonio - 7
Took his goal really well and worked so hard after Carroll’s red card.
Manuel Lanzini - 6
Understandably looked a bit rusty at first, grew into the game after the break and looked back to his old self.
Marko Arnautovic - 5
Sacrificed at half time after the red card. Didn’t offer much in attack but was willing to do his defensive duties.
Andy Carroll - 0
Let his team down. The first booking was a bit harsh but the second was just plain stupid on his behalf.
Javier Hernandez - 6
Looked bright after the break and linked up well with Antonio before he was taken off.
Subs
Pedro Obiang – 7: Came on at half-time and played really well. Used the ball well and could have got on the score sheet.
Diafra Sakho – 5: Was only given 15 minutes or so, not really long enough to have an impact.
