West Ham are reportedly keeping a close eye on Sporting CP defender Cristiano Piccini.
The Italian right-back only secured a move to Portugal in the recent summer transfer window, but is already catching the attention of clubs from across Europe, including the Hammers. Arsenal are also cited with interest in Piccini.
It’s claimed by Portuguese news outlet A Bola, as covered in a report from Sapo Desporto, that West Ham have been attending Sporting’s recent games with the purpose of tracking Piccini’s progress.
West Ham’s relations with Sporting are somewhat strained, however. The two clubs were at the centre of a saga surrounding midfielder William Carvalho, leading to a media-based argument between the chiefs of the two clubs.
Despite this though, it looks like West Ham are keen to land Piccini from Sporting as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
The 25-year-old played for Fiorentina and Real Betis before securing his move to Sporting CP in the summer.
