West Ham scout Carvalho once again
West Ham’s pursuit of Sporting CP midfielder William Carvalho was well documented throughout the course of the summer.
The Hammers’ negotiations with the Liga NOS club were drawn out for weeks, but no deal between the two clubs could be struck despite lengthy discussions.
Although West Ham’s approaches were ultimately knocked back by Sporting, it looks as though the club are still interested in signing the Portugal international.
According to a report from the printed edition of Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, via Sport Witness, the Hammers had scouts overseeing Carvalho’s recent league game for Sporting.
The Liga NOS side could only manage a draw against Moreirense, with Carvalho contributing to a 1-1 stalemate.
West Ham are reportedly likely to return for Carvalho in the January transfer window, but may be forced to meet the player’s huge release clause of €45 million if they are to lure him away from Sporting this time around.
