Manuel Lanzini set for extended injury break
While many were hoping that Manuel Lanzini would make his return to the pitch this weekend against Tottenham it appears the club believe he will be sidelined a little bit longer.
Lanzini suffered a knee injury in pre-season which forced him to miss the club’s first two Premier League games. He made his return during the 3-0 defeat at Newcastle but aggravated the same injury whilst away with Argentina on international duty.
Speaking to the official site, new Head of Medical Gary Lewin has confirmed that the attacking midfielder is on schedule to complete his rehab on time as per the timetable set of him, meaning he will likely make his return after the international break in the middle of October.
Manuel Lanzini is a bit further away but still on schedule in terms of his rehabilitation from the knee injury that he irritated up at Newcastle last month.
He is back on the training pitches and working hard, and we are looking at him being available again after the next international break.
Should this forecast from Lewin and his team be accurate, Lanzini will miss tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup clash with Bolton, the visit of Tottenham this Saturday and the game against Swansea next weekend. In theory, Lanzini may return for the away trip to Burnley on October 14th.
