West Ham are interested in a move for Sporting CP midfielder William Carvalho, but it looks as though they’ll need to smash their club-record transfer fee to sign him.
It’s been stated in recent times that the Hammers are willing to pay in the region of £25 million for the Portugal international. However, according to a report from the Mirror today, the Liga NOS side are ready to demand a huge sum of £36m for their key man.
Carvalho is reportedly open to the idea of joining West Ham this summer, with the player having been linked with a move to the Premier League on several occasions over the last few years.
Although the fee of £36m is certainly high, it’s claimed by the Mirror that Sporting’s price tag has not deterred West Ham, and they are determined to land the powerhouse this summer.
The club’s representatives are reportedly in Portugal, as they look to clinch a deal with Sporting for the 25-year-old.
