West Ham aren’t finished with their summer spending this summer and are plotting a bid that could break the club’s transfer record for a second time during the transfer window.
The Daily Mail have claimed that the Hammers are preparing a £25m bid for Sporting Lisbon’s star midfielder William Carvalho.
Sporting have fielded interest from a number of Premier League clubs in recent years including the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and West Brom but no club have struck a deal for the Euro 2016 winner.
West Ham broke their transfer record earlier this summer with a £25m deal for Marko Arnautovic but due to the way the deal was structured, with £5m of the fee coming as potential performance-based add-ons, a potential deal for Carvalho would eclipse that fee, setting a new club-record transfer in the process.
Slaven Bilic is still trying to trim the fat of his squad with Sofiane Feghouli and Robert Snodgrass edging closer to summer exits to Galatasaray and Aston Villa respectively, while the Hammers are confident they can agree a deal with Brentford for Spanish attacker Jota after having a £3m bid rejected.
