Carvalho keen on West Ham move
Sporting midfielder William Carvalho is keen on a move to West Ham, according to Mirror journalist Matt Lawless.
Twitter: William Carvalho to West Ham has been brewing for over a week now. He’s keen on a move. Sporting’s CL first leg could determine how soon. (@mattylawless)
Lawless says that West Ham have been interested in Carvalho for over a week now and that the midfielder is keen to make the move to England this summer.
Sporting have a Champions League play off to play this month, though, which is said to impact how soon West Ham could complete a deal.
The Portuguese outfit want Carvalho to help them into the group stages before any potential transfer away from the club
There were reports breaking earlier today that West Ham were preparing a £25m bid for Carvalho. This would break the club’s transfer record, which was set by Marko Arnautovic last month.
West Ham paid £24m for Arnautovic from Stoke, with any deal to sign Carvalho looking to eclipse that before the end of the transfer window.
Slaven Bilic has made no secret of his desire to add to his squad this summer and Carvalho would be another big coup for the Hammers.
