West Ham pride themselves on their academy and they’ve recently agreed terms with one of their brightest young prospects.

All Nigeria Soccer are reporting that talented defender Ajibola Alese has signed a deal to become a first-year scholar in the West Ham academy and is on course to be offered professional terms further down the line.

Alese is a regular at U16 level but did make seven appearances at U18 last season which illustrates how highly the club think of him

Capped at England U16 level coming from a Nigerian family, Alese has been reportedly a target for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City but recent infringements regarding youth player transfers from the Premier League duo ended a potential move for Alese.

The centre-back can be offered a professional deal after he turns 17 and has the potential to enjoy a great career at the club.

West Ham have a number of talented centre-backs coming through at the moment and sooner or later they will be handed an opportunity.
