Current England no.1 Joe Hart has recently been linked with a move to the London Stadium but it’s reported the Hammers only want to take the Man City goalkeeper on-loan.
Hart didn’t really set the Serie A on fire last season and was criticised for certain mistakes he endured through the season but that doesn’t take away the class that still remains in the keeper.
Although Hammers fans are divided over Hart, it should be said that this move is a signal of intent from the board as they want to make sure a quality team is at manager Slaven Bilic’s disposal.
West Ham currently have Spaniard Adrian as their no.1 but then also have Darren Randolph waiting as a strong no.2 option. However, I’m sure many fans would agree that these two aren’t on Joe Hart’s level and here’s why…
Hart is a statement signing
The 30-year-old is a very good goalkeeper and would certainly demand our defence being the strong character he is. Hart is a big name and would certainly send a message to similar teams to us in the Premier League and would allow us to start improving our team, to match our fantastic stadium with class players.
He has a point to prove
With the World Cup coming up next year, Hart’s position has recently been under-fire and with guaranteed first-team football at West Ham, this will give him a strong platform to perform on, ensuring he impresses England manager Gareth Southgate.
Proven in the Premier League
From 2010, he was Man City’s keeper and was highly regarded in the league. This would be a big coup to get a man who has proven himself in the English league and for his country.
Loan to buy option?
It’s said that the Hammers would only take Hart on-loan this season but as we know the board like their loan to buy options and this could be used effectively with Hart. If he impresses, West Ham will still be able to get many years out of the keeper if he can still perform at a consistent level.
