West Ham’s goalkeeping situation has been questioned by both the fans and the media this season and rightly so.
After entering the season as the starter, Adrian was dropped to the bench after a number of high-profile mistakes and replaced by Darren Randolph who enjoyed a decent run in the side before Slaven Bilic reinstated Adrian after a poor run of form.
Since Adrian returned to the side, the Hammers have kept four clean sheets in six games and despite the trouncing at the hands of Liverpool have looked much more solid at the back.
Set to become a free agent in the summer, Adrian won’t be leaving anytime soon after Bilic, as quoted by Sky Sports, confirmed the club have activated a two-year extension clause in his contract:
Adrian is out of contract but we have an option, and we activated that option. He is our player and we are happy with him.
The Spaniard, who was a reported target of Everton, is a real fan favourite following his move from Real Betis is 2013 and looks set to be a part of the first-team picture for years to come.
