West Ham finished off their home games in their maiden season at the London Stadium in a rather awful fashion, falling short in a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.
It was a big occasion for the Hammers, who wanted to finish the campaign in a strong fashion in front of their own supporters.
However, the Reds proved to be far too strong on the day and they came away with an incredibly convincing win after a mix of unstoppable attacking, awful officiating and embarrassing defending.
Daniel Sturridge gave Liverpool the lead in the first-half on his return to Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up, before a goal from Philippe Coutinho from long range doubled the visitors’ advantage.
The Brazilian playmaker then made it three goals to the good after a lethal counter-attack stemmed from Gini Wijnaldum handling in the box.
Divock Origi was on hand to pounce late on, handing Liverpool a 4-0 win and West Ham yet another miserable home defeat.
Here are our match ratings for Slaven Bilic’s men.
Adrian - 5
Failed to convince but couldn’t do a hell of a lot about the goals. Defenders stitched him up.
Jose Fonte - 4
Whose clever idea was it to sign him? Another abysmal display. All over the show for the majority of the contest.
Winston Reid - 4
Pretty dire, as well. Couldn’t lead by example at all throughout and even faked an injury, only to jump straight back onto his feet when Liverpool had scored.
James Collins - 3
Probably wasn’t even as bad as the other two defenders, but I’m giving him a three for his defending against Coutinho for third. Genuinely laughable.
Sam Byram - 5
Didn’t influence the game at all and had a good chance early on.
Edmilson Fernandes - 4
Looked lost out there in the middle. Liverpool were too good for him.
Havard Nordtveit - 4
Couldn’t even keep up with the game at times. Coutinho left him for dead often.
Aaron Cresswell - 5
One of the better players on the day. Worked hard but didn’t impose himself on the game at all.
Manuel Lanzini - 6
The only man that looked like creating something.
Andre Ayew - 4
How on earth did he miss?
Jonathan Calleri - 4
Didn’t actually do anything at all. Pretty poor, as usual.
