West Ham join race to sign Oguzhan Ozyakup
Last summer, West Ham were being perennially linked with moves for a number of Besiktas players, due to the obvious ties with Slaven Bilic who spent two seasons with the Turkish club as manager before leaving to take the Hammers job.
The likes of Atiba Hutchinson, Gokhan Gunul, Andreas Beck and Cenk Tosun were all touted as possible West Ham targets before Bilic ultimately did bring in one Besiktas player in Gokhan Tore who was a huge disappointment and has spent most of the season sidelined with a knee injury.
One other player the Hammers were linked with was former Arsenal midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup but a deal was never struck between the two clubs.
According to CNN Turk, West Ham remain interested in signing the Turkish international midfielder and will have scouts present during Besiktas’ Europa League quarter-final with Lyon.
They’re not alone in their scouting mission as representatives from Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Dortmund, Mönchengladbach, Schalke 04, Hannover, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Aston Villa, Everton, Southampton, West Ham, PSV, Twente and Anderlecht will all be in attendance for the game, with eyes on Oguzhan and a number of other talents on display.
