Anthony Modeste will cost West Ham £25m
West Ham will once again be in the market for a new striker in the summer and they’re reportedly lining up a move for a former target.
According to BILD (h/t talkSPORT), the Hammers are keen on bringing Cologne striker Anthony Modeste to the London Stadium in the summer, but they aren’t alone in their pursuit of the player.
The report claims that OGC Nice and Marseille are both interested in signing the 29-year-old forward.
Since making a £3.8m move to Cologne in the summer of 2015, Modeste has been one of the Bundesliga’s most prolific goalscorers, netting 18 in 36 appearances last season but he’s stepped it up again this campaign with 23 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.
The former Blackburn loanee is certainly a late bloomer and West Ham failed with a move for the Frenchman last summer but are hopeful of striking a deal one year on.
Cologne are unwilling to let their star striker leave the club this summer, and won’t let him leave for any less than £25m it’s claimed.
