We’re at the point in the 2016/17 season where there really is nothing to play for and West Ham should look towards the summer transfer window and rebuilding their squad.
According to Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Hammers are interested in signing Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto when the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old moved to Serie A in July 2014 and following a breakthrough loan spell with Ascoli last season where he netted five goals and recorded nine assists in 35 games, earned his place in the first-team squad for this season.
A Czech Republic U21 international, Jankto has again impressed by scoring three goals and tallying four assists so far this season and West Brom are plotting a scouting mission to Italy later in the season to watch him in action.
West Ham invested last summer in a young, developmental midfielder in Edimilson Fernandes who has impressed in limited opportunities which makes it unlikely for the Hammers to press ahead and sign another player who fits this profile.
