Hammers reject three approaches for Carroll
West Ham have turned down three approaches from Chinese clubs for in-form striker Andy Carroll.
The Daily Mail understand Tianjin Quanjian, Hebei China Fortune and Shandong Luneng have all had approaches for Carroll turned down by West Ham, due to the lack of attacking options available to Slaven Bilic following Simone Zaza’s January exit.
Carroll boasts four goals in his last four games but has been rested in the Hammers’ two most recent fixtures as he is suffering from a slight groin niggle.
The 28-year-old missed 12 league games earlier in the season due to a knee injury sustained in the Europa League play-off against Astra Giurgiu. In spite of his lengthy absence, Carroll is still West Ham’s second top scorer this season, only trailing Michail Antonio on eight.
Carroll is expected to recommence training later this week and Bilic is said to be hopeful of having the England international available for selection against Chelsea next Monday.
“He ran on Friday and Saturday morning with no negative reaction, so hopefully. Me and my medical department are fighting,” Bilic said.
They say Wednesday, I say Tuesday.
“Then hopefully four or five days of training, that is always enough for Andy to shine in the next game. So hopefully he is going to be able to play against Chelsea.”
