Reece Oxford is tipped for a bright future with West Ham but his big breakthrough into the first-team will have to wait.
After signing Jose Fonte from Southampton, many questioned whether Oxford would have a role in the first-team this season but it seems he could be set for a loan move.
Sky Sports understand that SPL side Rangers are in advanced talks with the Hammers to sign Oxford on loan until the end of the season.
Oxford became West Ham’s youngest-ever first-team player at the age of 16 years and 198 days when he started their Europa League qualifier against Andorran side FC Lusitanos in July 2015.
This season, Oxford has made just two appearances for the Hammers, both in the Europa League qualifiers, and has had his campaign severely hampered by an ankle injury he has now overcame.
Having signed a new long-term contract with the club running until 2021, the next stage in Oxford’s development would be to play regular first-team football, something Rangers are able to offer the 18-year-old.
