The Southampton star handed in a transfer request earlier this month after seven years with the club as he seeks pastures new and he isn’t short of suitors.
Outside of both the Hammers and the Baggies, the Euro 2016 is targeted by Ronald Koeman who wants to reunite with the former Benfica man at Everton. Manchester United have also been linked with Jose Mourinho and Fonte sharing the same agent – Jorge Mendes.
It’s claimed that West Brom have agreed a deal with Fonte, but the centre-back appears to be holding out for a move to West Ham and will likely reject a move to the Hawthorns.
West Ham have three established centre-backs in Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna and James Collins but if Slaven Bilic perseveres with the back three formation then bringing in another defender does make a lot of sense.
