According to Ed Aarons of the Guardian, Michail Antonio is set to sign a new five-year contract with West Ham worth £70,000-a-week.
The Hammers signed Antonio for a reported £7m from Nottingham Forest back in the 2015 summer transfer window and despite a rocky start at the club, he’s progressed and developed his game well and has emerged as a key first-team player.
So far this season, Antonio has been deployed in several different positions but this has not held him back on the goalscoring front – his eight goals this season makes him the club’s top scorer and his form has also put him into the England reckoning.
Antonio was linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this month which may have forced West Ham’s hand in bringing forward new contract talks with the winger, originally scheduled for the end of the season David Sullivan recently stated.
