Marseille explore options into signing Dimitri Payet
According to the Daily Mail, Marseille are looking into the possibility of signing Dimitri Payet and loaning him back to West Ham until the end of the season.
Marseille are hopeful of signing Payet this month but given West Ham’s stance on not wanting to let him go, they’re hopeful of finding a middle ground where he can return to West Ham for the rest of the season
While it’s unsure how this would play out, perhaps knowing he’s return to Marseille in the summer would provide enough inspiration for Payet to have a better attitude towards playing for the club and really give his all during the final few months of his tenure in East London.
Unfortunately, because of the fallout of his transfer request, fans have seemingly turned their backs on the 29-year-old and it appears unlikely that he will ever play for the club again.
Payet came to West Ham, originally from Marseille in 2015. West Ham signed Payet for £10.7m and are now demanding a fee within the region of £35m. A great profit on a sulking player.
Although co-chairman David Sullivan and manager Slaven Bilic said that Payet is not for sale, it’s believed the Hammers are increasingly open to the idea of selling the Frenchman to the highest bidder over the next fortnight.
