West Ham target move for Nemanja Maksimovic
West Ham are believed to be interested in making a January swoop for FC Astana midfielder Nemanja Maksimovic, according to this week’s Sunday People.
The Hammers lack depth in midfield after switching to a back three and shafting Cheikhou Kouyate in at centre-back, with Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble pretty much playing every week.
Maksimovic is a highly-rated central midfielder playing for FC Astana in the Kazakhstani Premier League following his £1.5m January 2015 move from Slovenian outfit NK Domzale – West Ham’s opponent in their Europa League third qualifying round back in August.
The 21-year-old midfielder operates primarily as a sitter in the middle of the park, however, he can also play in a more advanced role and he’s scored three goals in 22 league appearances this season.
It’s believed that West Ham could sign the midfielder for £1.6m in January but they face competition from Liga NOS giants Sporting CP.
