1860 Munich contact Slaven Bilic about becoming manager
According to TZ.de, 2. Bundesliga outfit 1860 Munich have contacted Slaven Bilic about becoming their new manager.
The West Ham manager has come under pressure in recent weeks following the Hammers’ terrible start to the Premier League season which sees them currently sitting in 16th place – not to mention another embarrassing Europa League exit in August.
After sacking Kosta Runjaic, 1860 Munich re-appointed Daniel Bierofka as their interim Head Coach while the search continues for their next permanent Head Coach.
The likes of Roberto Di Matteo and Avram Grant have been touted as possible candidates but the German club have been in contact with Slaven Bilic about taking the reigns at the club.
Under contract until 2018 and earning an annual salary of €3.51m, persuading Bilic to leave West Ham would be a tough ask for the second tier German side but if the Croatian feels his job security in East London is deteriorating then he could feasibly jump ship.
Last season, Bilic lead the Hammers to a 7th place finish and set a number of club records in the Premier League era whilst doing so, including fewest defeats (8), first season with a positive goal difference (+14), fewest away defeats (5), most goals scored (65) and most points gained (62).
However, things haven’t gone to plan this season thanks to some shambolic summer transfers and some unfortunate injuries to key players.
Bilic has the support of everyone at West Ham currently, but if the Hammers are dragged further into the relegation dogfight then questions will be asked.
