West Ham have joined the race for Jai Quitongo
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, West Ham are the latest top flight club to take an interest in promising Greenock Morton forward Jai Quintogo.
The teenage striker has scored six goals already in the Scottish Championship and has caught the eye of many, with some exciting displays up front for his side.
The Scottish side turned down a bid of £100,000 from Doncaster in the summer but with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he’s likely to be sold in January.
A number of Football League sides have also been linked with a move for the teenage attacker, with Brighton & Hove Albion, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic named specifically.
Interest in Quintogo has spread to the Premier League as well, with West Ham, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Swansea to have been claimed to show interest in the youngster.
This was reinforced by their scouts being in attendance for Greenock Morton’s recent defeat against Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup, in which he impressed.
The youngster is capable of playing on the left wing but is primarily utilised as a striker for his club.
The 19-year-old can negotiate a pre-contract deal with interested parties from January and should a contract be agreed, the move could be made permanent for a fee negotiated between the two parties.
The winger is such a talent that Portugal have asked him to consider playing for their U21 side rather than Scotland.
