Axel Witsel, CM, Zenit St. Petersburg
The 27-year-old has already racked up 78 caps for Belgium in his career already proving to be a very experienced head in the middle of midfield.
He’s industrious to play holding midfield but also has enough quality in possession to be a threat in the attacking third, with 72 goals and 36 assists in 414 career club appearances to date.
Witsel has been courted by the likes of Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United in the past and could be a real statement maker for West Ham.
Saido Berahino, ST, West Brom
Things haven’t gone to plan for Saido Berahino since his breakout 2014/15 campaign which saw him score 20 goals in all competitions
Finding the next on just seven occasions in 40 appearances since, Berahino finds himself on the outside looking in at the Hawthorns after spending three transfer windows trying to engineer a move to a bigger club.
That could well be West Ham who are in need to a striker or two with the futures of Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia in doubt. Berahino could flourish and rediscover his peak form in East London.
Paul-Georges Ntep, LW, Rennes
Young Ntep is a player West Ham have tracked in the past and attempted to sign to no avail.
The 24-year-old winger can play on either flank is a very pacey, direct player much to the mould of Michail Antonio who we have seen enjoy some great success since making the move to West Ham.
With two caps for France under his belt, Ntep will need to make the step up from Rennes to a more established side if he wishes to further his international career.
Jetro Willems, LB, PSV
Willems burst onto the scene in 2012 when he starred for the Netherlands at Euro 2012 as an 18-year-old. It feels like he’s been around for much longer than that which makes it hard to believe he’s only 22.
Over the last five years, Willems has established himself as one of the best young full-backs in European football and has been perennially linked with a move to the Premier League.
With his contract up in the summer, he can make a name for himself at West Ham, while earning a considerably larger wage packet, and offer some genuine competition to Aaron Cresswell.
Rachid Ghezzal, CAM, Lyon
Both West Ham and Everton had bids turned down for Ghezzal in the summer because Lyon hoped he would extend his contract – that’s yet to happen.
The 24-year-old Algerian can play across the attacking midfield line and is known for being a particularly skilful opponent, much like out very own Dimitri Payet.
He has been likened to Riyad Mahrez and has a similar build and playing style, and would be a significant improvement on Gokhan Tore.
Bacary Sagna, RB, Manchester City
West Ham opted for the stop-gap option with Alvaro Arbeloa in the summer to help Sam Byram at right-back and offer some depth, and I wouldn’t rule them out doing the same next season.
Sagna is a savvy, experienced Premier League player who, like Arbeloa, could play a mentor role for Byram to aid his development.
Byram remains the long-term answer at right-back, but he’s still young and developing, some experience alongside him is needed.
Andrew Robertson, LB, Hull City
Andrew Robertson is a player Slaven Bilic confirmed he made a bid for in the summer.
The Hammers offered £7m for the Scotsman while Hull demanded double that figure to even consider letting him go.
No disrespect to Hull, he’s above them and should be playing for a better side and will be next season if he has any sense. West Ham should look to be among possible suitors.
Moussa Konate, ST, FC Sion
Another player we’ve looked into signing before, but Moussa Konate has proven to be a consistent goalscorer for Sion.
He has seven goals in 19 games for Senegal along with 37 goals and 16 assists in 83 appearances for Sion, and he’s only 23.
Konate could be someone who we take a chance on and see what they can offer at the highest level for a relatively small financial outlay.
