Some sad news has been dealt to West Ham Development Squad goalkeeper Nathan Trott as he has been forced to withdraw from the England U19 squad due to injury.

The 17-year-old stopper has been a regular in the academy sides for the Hammers since joining the club on a two-year deal last season and the former Bermuda U17 international earned his first call-up to the England U19 side this month.

In-line for his debut, Trott suffered a “slight injury” to his thumb in training, according to a family source talking to the Royal Gazette, which has meant he will be unable to travel to Croatia this week.

“Nathan injured his thumb while training with the England squad,” a family source confirmed.

“While it is a slight injury he won’t be able to travel with the England squad to Croatia, which is very disappointing for him.”

Trott has been featuring regularly for the side of late, keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Leicester U23s and has seemingly moved ahead of fellow England youth international Sam Howes in the ranks at West Ham.
